Sustainable use of the rangelands is critical to Western Australia's future. With proper management of these resources including land, water, biodiversity and marine biological systems, WA communities will continue to prosper economically, socially, culturally and environmentally.
Rangelands NRM WA role is to coordinate and plan NRM activities across the region and bring together organisations and communities to deliver on-ground outcomes, either directly or in partnership with other organisations and turn priorities into action.
PROJECT WEBSITE
A project website has been established which provides overviews on projects Rangelands has funded. The projects are divided into our sub-regions: Kimberley; Pilbara; Gascoyne / Murchison; Goldfields / Nullarbor.
Currently the website houses our earlier Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) & National Action Plan
(NAP) projects. In the near future, projects from the transitional Caring for Our Country (CfoC) Program will be added, as well as our current CfoC projects.

ESRM - ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE RANGELAND MANAGEMENT
The ESRM program works with pastoralists to develop property action plans. The plans identify the factors that drive landscape function, biodiversity and livestock productivity. Land managers, in collaboration with ESRM, can use this knowledge to assess current management practices and develop appropriate interventions.
The first stage of the project has been largely finalised, with ESRM developing a model of engagement with the pastoral industry that will not rely solely on NRM funds into the future.
More information on ESRM can be found here.....
