Rangelands NRM wins poster prize at science communication conference

Promoting both the Ngurrawaana Rangers project and the School of the Air photo competition saw Rangelands NRM trump the poster prize at the recent Australian Science Communication (ASC) conference.

Rangelands NRM’s Communication Manager Teresa Belcher attended the biennial ASC conference that was held in Brisbane 2-5 February.

Ms Belcher said the ASC2014 program was designed to inspire, with the themes of ‘Insight, Impact, Innovation’.

“Rangelands NRM wanted to showcase our work with the rangelands community and what better way to do this via two poster presentations, with some great images from our work,” she said.

ASC2014 emphasised innovation in science communication stimulated by understanding our audiences, using visual communication and new media, and demonstrating the impact of our efforts.

Three days of main conference program featured case studies, talks, roundtable discussions, workshops and training, and debates.

A full stream of professional development including: web building, editing, animation, online strategy, commercial foundations, getting published, journalism and storytelling.
